Publication on the rise of small states in the Arabian Gulf

MECACS member and doctoral researcher Ahmed M. Abozaid has recently published a piece for the Journal of Rising Powers and Global Governance analysing the rise of small states in the Arabian gulf such as the UAE and Qatar using a historical sociology perspective. Based on this analysis, Abozaid argues that the rise of both these states was the inevitable by-product of historical changes occurring at the domestic, regional and system level. Abozaid employs a trifold analytical framework to understand the social, political and economic dynamics that have fuelled these changes.
